Activity Report for the Year of 2014 - 15

1.Annual General Meeting :- On the 1st April 2014 annual general meeting of the society was held under the chairmanship of Sh Mohd Ayoub Zarger chairman of the society. In the meeting various matter were discussed and annual calendar for the year 2014-2015 for various activities was produced before the members for the discussion and approval. After great discussion and deliberation it was decided that society will celebrate all the environment related days which have both national and international importance. Beside society will also organize the Seminar/Symposium on different topics which have Educational, Moral and human values. Stress was given on the organizing of free education camp during winter vocations for the students of downtrodden section of the Society. It was also decided that society will acts as helping hand with all govt agencies for implementation of various schemes launched by the govt for the welfare of the rural areas. Apart from above stress will be given on the collection of donation under orphan and widows welfare trust to provide the financial assistant to orphan and widows of the area. The meeting ends with vote of thanks presented by Sh Mehboob Iqball Batt General secretary of the society.

2. Distribution of uniform to orphan students :- On 2-4-2014 a function of orphan and widow welfare trust executed by the society was organized at Gayasia Model school Changa.The function was presided over by chairman of the society. In the function free uniform was distributed among the ten orphan students of the area.

3. Celebration of Environmental Day :- In order to celebrate the world environment day 2014 Educational, Environmental, Social, Sports, and Cultural, Society Bhalessa Doda in collaboration with J&K Forest Deptt, Principal HSS Kilhotran and WWF Nature India organized a program at HSS Kilhotran. The events of the programe were Debate on “Deforestation in Chenab valley causes and its control masses” Quiz competition on environmental pollution and conservation of Bio-diversity and painting competition on environmental pollution and conservation of water. The programe was presided over by M.P Dogra Conservator of Forest Chenab Circle Doda where as DFO Bhaderwah Abhijeet Joshi was the Guest of honor. Besides Dy Director Forest protection force Ravinder singh, ACF Doda Mohinder Singh, SDPO Gandoh Bushan Kumar Ganjoo, Tehsildar Gandoh Janii Kumar, Major Jadesh 26RR were the special invitees .Students of various Schools participated in this program. In quiz competition HSS Kilhotran bagged the first where as GHSS Gowari and HS Chanti bagged and 2nd 3rd position respectively. In speeches Asif Ali HS Dhadkaie get the first where as Iqra Ayoub Zarger Class 12th Student of HSS Kilhotran and Ajaz Ahmed HS Dhareweri bagged the 2nd and 3rd position respectivel. In painting competition Ulfat Anjum of Girls HSS Gowari get the first prize, Saraj Din Class 10th of HSS Kilhotran get 2nd prize were as parvinder Singh of HS Chanti get the 3rd prize. Speaking on the occasion Chairman of the Society Mohd Ayoub Zarger Said that Society is working in area for the welfare of people of last 18years and main focus is conservation is conservation of forests and other natural resources. He further said Chenab valley is most ignored area in respect of forests sector and explained all those factors which are are responsible for degradation of forests in Chenab valley. He appeals the department and locals to strengthen the Hand of the Society for this national cause.In His Presidential Address Conservator of forests M.P.Dogra appreciated the the society and principal HSS Kilhotran for organizing such types of program in rural area. He through detail light on the importance of the environment day and said that forest deportment will extend full sport to society for this national cause. Other who speaks on the occasion includes Major Judges 26RR,Tehsildar Gandoh, Dy Director Protection Force, DFO Bhaderwah ,SDPO Gandoh, Mohd Zafrullah President (FNGA etc. Mohd Ayoub Sheikh wise Principal HSS Kilhotran and Dr Ashiq Professor were the Quiz Master. Mehboob Iqball Batt carried out the proceeding of the programme Mohd Ayoub Rather Lect, Zalufqar Ali Keen and Ishaq Rashied were the Judges the programme. Cash prizes and other consolation prizes were also distributed among the students. Principal HSS Kilhotran Sh. T.C Sharma presented the welcome address and vote of thanks. Other who were present on the occasion include serpench Javid Iqball Serpanch Ghulam Rasool, Ab Rehman Rathe,r Dr Imtiyaz, Ab Rashied zarger, Lec Jaswant Lec. Harminder Singh, Lec. Basharat Hussain, Dr. Aslam, Layaket Ali Matoo, Mohd Yaqoob Matoo, Hafiz Layaket, Nasir Hussain, Shoket Ali Gh. Hussain and Mir Shah Din.

4. Co-ordination meeting of National Environmental Awareness Compaig :- on 18-6-2014 a meeting of the society was organized at head office of the society.Meeting was presided over by the chairman of the society Mohd Ayoub Zarger.The meeting was attended by the eco-club incharge teachers of two educational zone ic Bhalessa and Bhatyas.In the meeting all the participant teachers were coordinated for the filling of forms for the grant of financial assistance under NEAC 2015.

5. Free Medical Camp at Akhyarpur Bhatyas :- On 26-6-2014 Society in collaboration with Directorate of Indian System Medicine (ISM) and Chinab Valley AYUSH Welfare Society organize one day free medical Aid cum awareness camp Bari Pingal of Tehsil Bhalessa. Camp was inaugurated by Mohd Ayoub Zarger Chairman Educational, Environmental, Social, Sports, and Cultural, Society in presence of Distt co-ordinator IEC-Doda Dr. Anayat Ali Rather and other eminent citizens of the pingal area. Speaking on the occasion Chairman of Society Mohd Ayoub Zarger said that ISM is our traditional system of Medicine and main aim of this camp is to aware the public about the herbal medicines which are safe and have no side effects. He also appeal the people to avoid the self medication and do not take any medicine with the consult of Doctor because self medication has given birth to other health related problems. He thanked the Director ISM Jammu for sanctioning of camp for this remote area and said that there is to organize such camps in near future. Dr. Anayat Ali Rather Co-ordinator IEC-Doda while giving the awareness said that ISM provide safe and affordable treatment to patients and appeal the public to co-operate with the department to make the traditional health care system more effective. About 800-900 peoples attended the camp and more than 500 patients were examined through the day and free medicines supplied by Directorate ISM were provided to the patients. Dr. Mansoor, Dr. Farhat, Dr. Zakir Batt, Dr. Farzana, Pharmacist Nazir Ahmed Rather, Irshad Ahmed and Asha Workers Masooda Begum and Afrooza Begum render their selfless service in this camp. The Society Member/Volunteer who attended the camp. Zakir Hussain Mir, Shoket Ali, Bashier Ahmed Keen & Ajaz Ahmed.

6. Cultural Program at Gandoh :- On 18-8-2014 Society Bhalessa Doda In collaboration with 26RR (Kamaun) Sohanda Batalian organized cultural events and educational seminar at Tehsil head quarter Gandoh.Programe was attended by students of various schools, teachers panches serpanches and senior citizens in large gathering. The function was presided over by Col.S.Bhardwaj Commanding Officer 26 RR whereas Assistant Commandant SSB 42Bn. Gandoh was guest of houner.More than 40 cultural items were presented by students of different schools. Group songs, individual songs, skits, action songs, dances and speeches on cultural heritage, national integration, social evils and communal harmony were main attraction of the program. In his welcome address chairman of the society Moh Ayoub Zarger welcomes the guests and also explains the working of the society and 26 RR in the area. He said that society in collaboration with army has organized various programs on educational and moral values. In skits and daces H.S Budhli bagged the IST, Summer Hill Gandoh 2nd position and Gayasia Model School got 3rd position. In songs HSS Kilhotran got the ist position whereas HSS Gowari and HS Gingota got the 2nd and 3rd position respectivety.Speaking on the occasion Col.S.Bhardawaj appreciated the society and 26 RR unit Gandoh for organizing the colorful event in this backward area. He also said that students of the Bhalessa are heaving lot of talent in every field and army under civic action program is providing the stage for encouragement of their talent. He promised that more such programs would be organized in near future.Distingueshed prizes, mementos and medals were also distributed among the students and other social workers of the area.Mehboob Iqball Batt.General Secretary of the society carried the proceeding of the program weras J.A.Agah Secretary presented vote of thanks. Other prominent who were present on occasion includes Major Ajay Chowhan,Ishaq Rasheed Malik,Hakeem Jhan Mohd,Lakhshmi Kant,Khudabaksh Khayali,Serpanch Panchayat Kandolo Kaser Singh,Serpanch Bhargi Zakir Hussain,Master Pardeep Kumar etc.

7. Nature Camp at Balpaderi :- On 28-8-2014 Society in Collaboration with WWF-India Ministry of Environment and Forests GOI and Govt HSS Kilhotran organizes two days nature camp at Balpaderi (Bhalessa).About eighty students of of the HSS Kilhoran participated in the camp.Variou camp activities like handprint campaign to conserve the nature, quotes for environment and slogan for better environment were carried during the camp. Speaking on the occasion chairman of the society Mohd Ayoub Zarger said that nature camp is an outdoor environmental activity for students, teachers, parents and community people to import the environmental education among them. He further elaborate that main objectives of organizing these nature camp is to: explore the hidden nature, make the people environmental friendly, importance of biodiversity, to study the interaction among the various biotic communities and role of plants in human civilization. He also said that organizing of these camps is the key activity of the ministry and 30 number of such nature comps have been organized by the schools of two educational zones of sub division Gandoh with active coordination of this NGO. He thanked the Principal ,staff and students of HSS kilhotran for making the camp succesfull.Other who attended the camp includes Dr.Aslam Rather,Nissar Ahmed Batt Tr,Sheikh Mudassir Ahmed,Nissar Ahmed Rather,Aquib Iqbal Qazi,generalist Ishtyak Malik and Ch Mohd Imran.

8. Donation Derive :- On 11-9-2014 a donation derives campaign was organized to collect the donation from the locals of the area. The derive campaign started from the Batt market Bhalessa and passes through different market places like Bana,Gandoh,Bhatyas,Khara and Thatri.The main function of this derive was to collect the money to supply the relief to the flood victims of the Kashmir.

9. Relief Package sends to Srinager :- On 25-9-2014 Educational, Environmental, Social, Sports and cultural Society send the relief material for flood victims of Kashmir. The relief comprises 101 packs which cost to Rs 100000=00.Each pack comprises eleven items of food and ingredients’ vehicle loaded with relief material was flagged off by SDM Gandoh Dr Khalid Hussain Malik(KAS) early in the morning. A team of volunteers led by Munier Ahmed sheikh organizing secretary of the society along with five other volunteers namely Javid Iqbal Zarger,Abid Hussain Zarger,,Mohd Ashraf Kholi etc were deployed on the behalf of the society for relief distribution. Speaking on the occasion SDM Gandoh appreciated the society for raising the funds for this noble cause. Chairman of the society thanked the people of the Bhalessa for donating the funds generously for the welfare of the flood victims across the State He also appreciated the members of the society Jamait Ali Agah,Mohd Ashraf Kholi,Muneer Ahmed Sheikh,Ch.Mohd Iqbal,Mehboob Iqball Batt,Zakir Hussain Rather,Dr.Imtiaz ,Dewan Singh and Abid Hussain Zarger for their active participation for collection of donation from the public.

10. Postponement of board examination :- In Order to express concerns over the havoc in recent torrential rains, the Educational, Environmental, Social, Sports and Cultural Society (EESSCS) Bhalessa Doda today urged the nodal examination authorities for the postponement of the annual examination of class 12th and 10th of winter zone of Jammu region.In a meeting held here today the members of society, said that as per previous schedule the examination for the both classes are commencing from 7th and 14th of October respectively. Speaking on the occasion chairman of the society Mohd Ayoub Zarger said about 30% of syllabi of various subjects especially science streams are not completed."The reason is involvement of teaching staff in conduction of parliamentary election followed by long summer vocations and the closing of school during flood period, he added and added thus we appeal the Commissioner Secretary School education and chairman BOSE to postpone the annual examination of class 10th and 12th in the winter zone ofJammu region.Among others present in the meeting included Mohd Ayoub Shiekh Tehsil President 10+2 lecturer Forum Bhalessa, Jamait Ali President Teacher form Bhalessa,Mehboob iqball Batt General Secretary of host Society, Mohd Ayoub Rather representative parents association and Iqra Ayoub reperesentative from student community.

11. Seminar on Save the Girl Child :- Educational, Environmental, Social, Sports and Cultural Society in Collaboration with Health and Family Welfare Department, Doda organized a seminar on the topic “Save the Girl Child” at Govt Girls Hr. Sec. School Gowari. The function was presided by Principal Tara Chand Sharma, where as BMO Gandoh Dr. Ab. Hameed Zarger and Chairman Society Mohd Ayoub Zarger were the Chief guest and guest of honor respectively. Various speakers through light on the topic. BMO Gandoh delivered the lecture on the topic and appealed the public to come forward and safeguard the girl child. Chairman of the Society Mohd Ayoub Zarger said that girl child is equally important as the boy child & said the indiscrimination of sex is a social evil. He also aware the students about PC & PNDT act 1994.He thanked the CMO Doda Dr Yaqoob Mir for sponsoring the program. In presidential address principal HSS Kilhotran T. C. Sharma appreciated the Society for organizing such program and appealed the general public to come forward and strengthen that hand of Govt. So that Beti- Bachaow campaign became more effective. In the symposium Neeraj Kumar of class 11th baged 1st, where as Shazullah Mir class 7th & Deepak Manhas bagged 2nd and 3rd Prize respectively. Saqlain Ayoub, Afreena Banoo and Nuzhat Alyas were adjudged for the Special prizes. The judges of the occasion were Master Baqar Ali, Lect. Reyaz Ahmed. Other who spoke on this occasion includes Mufti Ishrat Ali Mattoo and Jamait Ali Agah president Teachers Association. Earlier incharge principal Govt HSS Gowari Mr. Ab Quyoom presented the welcome address where as Mohd Yasir Mir Carried the proceeding of the function. Other staff members present include Master Zaker Ali Mir, Master Gayassudin, Tr. Shoket Ali Rather, Lect. Anees Matto, Lect Mudassir Ali Azad, Tr. Majid Shakoor, Tr. Sartaj Ahmed Batt & Gh. Nabi Rather Librarian.

12. Conduction of survey of Mahasha community of Dist.Doda. :- In order find out the socio-economic status of Mhasha community in distt.Doda society conducted the survey and following summer report was prepared: .The survey shows that there are all 549 household spread in these blocks comprising 2630 souls with 1367 male and 1263 female. Out of 549 families 331are BPL, which counts 60%,53 AAy ie 9.65% 46 families are APL ie 8.37 % and 119 families heaving no ration cards. Total literacy rate is 46% which is 20-30% less than total literacy rate of the state. There are 571 Children reading in ist to 7th class, 220 are middle 259 metric, 78 10+2,10 are graduate and 8 are post graduate. Out of total males 613 are laborer. As per employment is concerned there are only 35 govt employed with 34 males and 1 female. The percentage of employment is 1.33% which is again too low. It is pertinent to mention here that 123 children between the age group 6 to 18 yrs are either never gone or never enrolled which has raised a big question on SSA and is matter of great concern. The highest number of these children figures in village Sharow panchayet Hambal-B of Educational Zone Asser ie 54 fallowed by Village Banjer Panchayat Molthi Doda ie 17,Blandpur Asser 9,Bhatti Panchayar Derka Bhaderwah 9,Bhaja Bhaderwah 9 and Halaran of Tehsil Thateri 8.Out of never enrolled children 77 are female and 46 are males. This community has less land holding and most of the families are living in one are two rooms. Out of 192 elderly people only 101 have been covered under old age pension scheme and 91 are left out (list enclosed).Some of them have crossed more than 80 yrs and are still waiting to get the pension which is great injustice to this community.


Suggestion : Keeping in view the summary of the survey report following suggestions are forwarded to increase the educational and socio-economic status of this backward community.

1. Sanction of Primary schools in the villages which shows high percentage of never gone/never enrolled children between age group6-18 yrs so that 100% literacy rate could be achieved which is ambitious aim of the govt.
2. To sanction the Augenwari Centres in all the hamlets which have household 15-20 so that nutritional value among the children 0-6 yrs,pragnant women and lacctitating mothers could be increased. These centre will also provides job opportunity to the unemployed women of this community.
3. To sanction the pension in favor of oldage,Widows and handicapped persons so that they can earn their livelihood.
4. providing the non scholastic educational camps so that educational slandered in this community get increased.
5. Sanction of two room along with toilet facility for residential purposes so that their social status could get increased.
6. All the laborer of this community should be registered with the Distt labor board so that they got an opportunities to avail the benefits the schemes launched by board for welfare of the labor classes.
7. Special recruitment derive in civil and armed forces to generate employment among the un-employed youths of this community so the their economical status could get increased.
8. Issuing of ration card in favour of left out families as per the census of 2011.
